Vesco Medical Accountant
Vesco Medical is a medical device start up that develops Enteral feeding products for people that do not have the ability to chew or swallow. We are a small but growing team of innovative individuals looking for talented professionals to market and sell medical device solutions that help patients live a better life. Vesco is looking for a detail oriented, collaborative and motivated individual with accounting experience to join our team. The accountant position is an entry level role for a talented self-directed accounting professional with an interest in taking on a role with a small growing organization. The role is responsible for the integrity and input of key financial transactions – sales orders, invoices, and payables. The role also offers a variety of other responsibilities as detailed below.
This individual will have the opportunity to grow and influence the direction of the department as it grows.
Responsibilities:
Financial
· Accurately and timely perform general accounts receivable functions, including collection of aged receivables
· Accurate and timely recording of inventory ensuring COGS have not changed from order to order
· Support treasury function ensuring transactions accurately reflected in QB/Bank
· Assist VP Operations, President & controller in ensuring adherence to policy / procedures
· Support tax reporting obligations
· Assist with month-end closing
· Light payroll duties
· Support accurate and timely processing of general accounts payable transactions, including issuing and tracking progress of purchase orders, confirming receipts and collaborating with team and suppliers with a sense of urgency on variances
· Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned
Other
· Occasionally assist in answering incoming phone calls
· Assist other departments and perform other duties as needed
· Maintain customer and vendor files and records
· Provide system support and training for key systems, such as QuickBooks
· Provide support to office staff, including travel support
Required Qualifications:
· Academic background in either finance, accounting or business management
· Experience working with QuickBooks
· Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
· Effective oral and written interpersonal communication
· Ability to work independently and to adapt to a fast-changing environment while maintaining attention to detail and error free work
· Must be detail oriented, driven, motivated and self-managed
Desired Qualifications:
· Experience with a firm grasp of General Accepted Accounting Principles
· System savvy – experience with EDI, Salesforce, Vonage and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
· Ability to work in start-up company environment
· Interest in the medical devices and healthcare industry
· Advanced excel skills
