Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Prepares moderate to complex account reconciliations, journal entries, management and financial reporting/metrics and related analytics.
Prepares ad hoc reports and analysis to support management requests.
Provides supporting documentation to audit and regulatory requests.
Performs SOX Compliance Testing.
Manages a series of functions or a larger departmental initiative.
May work with Business Partners to prepare business requirement documents and ad hoc related projects.
Researches accounting theory.
Prepares documentation of standard operating practices.
Review and approval of junior level staff journal and account reconciliations.

This is a hybrid role

Business Math: Knowledge of mathematical concepts; ability to apply mathematics appropriately to business transactions.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Knowledge of collaborative techniques and approaches; ability to promote a culture of continuous improvement and working together across functions to solve business problems and meet business goals.

Finance and Accounting: Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Financial and Accounting Systems: Knowledge of functions, features and capabilities of financial and accounting systems; ability to use financial and accounting applications specific to the organization.

Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ability to apply GAAP appropriately within the organization.

Additional Quaifications:
5+ years of accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting theory and financial reporting concepts.
Strong analytical skills with solid understanding of business processes and concepts.
Insurance industry knowledge a plus.
Excellent written/verbal communications and listening skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates ability to work independently, meet project deadlines, and work within a fast-paced, project-driven and team environment.
Strong knowledge of MS products (Excel, Word, Access).
Knowledge of SAP and Hyperion Smartview Add-in a plus.
