Key Responsibilities

The main responsibility of this position is to represent the company in grievance proceedings and arbitrations, and to ensure that collective bargaining agreements (CBA) and disciplinary procedures are consistently implemented across divisions through various dispute resolution means. Position also involves negotiation, the review of grievances and related documents and other duties as assigned by the Director.
Conducts dispute resolution responsibilities with employee groups represented by CBA(s)
Researches, prepares, and presents the Company’s position in arbitration involving union grievances before the respective System Boards of Adjustment
Represents the company in the arbitration and mediation of represented employee grievances
Supports arbitration process with case briefing as vital and other written materials
Serve as Company member of System Board as necessary
Engages in activities necessary to coordinate dispute resolution process
Plans and implements all necessary activities surrounding the arbitration docket
Establishes and maintains ongoing positive relationships with all levels of Union officials
Works cooperatively with union to schedule arbitration and mediation
Supports business units in dispute resolution process
Acts quickly to generate alternative approaches or strategies to solve legal or union issues
Anticipates potential barriers due to union, contractual or legal constraints
Advises and counsel HR and senior leadership on policy initiatives related to labor and employment
Qualifications

What’s Needed To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor Degree plus three or more years in a law firm or HR experience, with labor relations experience in a union/management environment; negotiating, interpreting and administering CBA(s)
Prior arbitration experience required
Comprehensive understanding of unions and labor environments, in addition to employment and legal principles, practices and plans
Extensive knowledge of HR policies
Understanding of federal and state laws and regulations relating to HR
Three or more years in a law firm or HR experience, with labor relations experience in a union/management environment negotiating, interpreting and/or administering CBA(s)
Prior arbitration or litigation experience required
Knowledge/understanding of HR Policies
Organizational interdependencies, interfaces and processes
Negotiation/Consensus Building
Expertise in strategy development, union relations, HR policy development and implementation, consulting, relationship-building, Microsoft Office proficiency
Arbitration Proficiency
Strong effective writing skills, analytical thinking, and communication skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

Masters in HR or LR, or JD
