Job Description:
Job Summary
- Leads Southwest Airlines’ efforts to create, facilitate and coordinate Security Management Systems (SEMS), leading to and ensuring satisfactory completion of an IATA/IOSA Audit of Section 8 — Security Management (SEC).
Responsibilities
- Determine all requirements and best practices necessary to enable compliance with aviation security best practices and requirements listed in the IOSA Standards Manual (ISM), Sources for IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices (ISARPs), Section 8 — Security Management (SEC).
- Facilitate successful communication regarding these necessary ISM Section 8 requirements and best practices to Southwest Airlines Leadership, Project Management Team, and operating departments
- Analyze and recommend effective methods for ongoing compliance and develop and implement auditing procedures to ensure continuous, repeated compliance
- Assist the Sr. Director, Security and NOC, as required, to implement, communicate and enhance the existing Southwest Airlines Federal Security program
- Mentor other Southwest Airlines Employees on areas within subject matter expertise
- Lead Security projects and programs
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expansive and far reaching knowledge of IATA/IOSA Standards and Security Management Systems (SEMS)
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
- Skilled in competently and confidently leading and serving on project Teams
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to represent Southwest Airlines before government officials
- Ability to communicate in front of large and small audiences
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Advanced-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
- IATA/IOSA Audit Section 8 — Security Management (SEC) with satisfactory completion as an Employee, Contractor, or Consultant with a commercial air carrier
- Working within an air carrier, governmental entity or other aviation organization in the areas of security, compliance, law or counterterrorism
Licensing/Certification
- Required: Must be able to undergo background checks necessary to obtain and maintain a Federal Security Clearance
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
