Tucker told his biographer, Chadwick Moore, that the Murdochs had to settle a lawsuit with Dominion. The termination of Carlson\u2019s show was reportedly part of the deal with Dominion.<\/p>\n<p>Tucker said: \u201cThey agreed to take me off the air, my show off the air, as a condition of the Dominion settlement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey had to settle this; Rupert couldn\u2019t testify.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that deal was made minutes before the trial started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, I know it was,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson said he was stunned by the firing and thought Suzanne Scott, the Fox News chief executive, was calling to congratulate him on the sixth anniversary of his move to the 8 pm primetime slot.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, however, she fired him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was first confused, and then shocked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was just, \u2018We\u2019re taking you off the air.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo explanation why, and they\u2019ve let me guess ever since.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s literally all I know.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked if I violated my contract.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey said, no, I\u2019m not fired, I\u2019m still under contract.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Ep. 10 Stay in your lane: our drive through South Central LA with Ice Cube.<\/p>\n<p>(next episode: Ice Cube sits down with us at his studio) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cUgCh2xccH\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/cUgCh2xccH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tucker Carlson (@TuckerCarlson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TuckerCarlson\/status\/1683973828416884736?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July 25, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h4>Carlson\u2019s biographer said, \u201cAlthough Dominion has denied this, my sources have intimate knowledge of the situation and they have assured me even before this news leaked that that is, in fact, the truth.\u201d<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fox News has \u201ccategorically denied\u201d that Carlson\u2019s firing was a condition of the settlement, however,<\/p>\n<p>Dominion, meanwhile, has also denied it.<\/p>\n<p>Dominion issued a statement that\u00a0said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the Fox principals who negotiated the settlement well know, Dominion made no demands about Tucker Carlson\u2019s employment orally or in writing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny claims otherwise are categorically false and a thinly veiled effort to further damage Dominion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFox should take every effort to stop these lies immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Star anchor Tucker Carlson reveals the real reason Fox News fired him in his new biography.
