Summary / Objective:

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for carrying out tasks impacting the general ledger. The Sr. Staff Accountant is required to process journal entries and post transaction activity including intercompany transactions as well as reconcile the general ledger accounts. Sr. Staff accountant will support the Controller in developing the balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting policies and procedures to assist in maintaining financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. The Sr. Staff Accountant will perform day to day accounting activities and month-end close activities by applying practical knowledge of the function typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

Essential Functions:

1.Maintain fixed asset records, using Sage software.

2.Assist with annual physical inventory

3.Rebate Calculations

4.Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.

5.Support month-end and year-end close process by:

Ensuring tasks are completed on time & all deadlines for month end reporting are met
Process recurring & standard journal entries
Prepare & record accrual journal entries
Record & Reconcile Intercompany transactions
Take ownership in GL accounts assigned to you and be able to explain variances
Preparation of a monthly reporting workbook; fixed assets and Intercompany balances
6.Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

7.Assist with internal and external audit samples.

8.Reconcile cash accounts daily and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

9.Review coding of corporate credit card expenses processed by AP.

10.Prepare timely reporting and remittance of all sales and use tax reporting requirements.

11.Ad hoc projects as required.

12.Other duties can be assigned based on company needs and employee capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. At times, due to projects or work assignments, employee will need to coordinate and direct a team to meet/satisfy individual/company objectives.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. At times, employee might be exposed to manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.

Physical Demands:

1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. To meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.

Travel:

No overnight travel is expected for this position. There may be occasional local day travel or overnight travel as it related to training activities or support of assigned plants/locations.

Required Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience and/or education.

Preferred Education and Experience:

1. Experience working in a fast pace, high-growth company.

2. Manufacturing environment experience using an ERP software preferred.
