Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for an Operations Turnaround Coordinator located in New York This role provides oversight for the Turnaround strategy, planning and execution. Using Global Turnaround Methodology (GTM), ensures operations readiness prior to and throughout the duration of the actual turnaround execution. This role is a combination of working team lead, contributor to plans and preparations, and coordination of others.

Sabine River Ethylene is currently in the planning phase of major turnaround scheduled for 1Q 2024. The outage for the cracker will be 50+ days and $50+MM in maintenance spending and another $30+MM in capital spending.

To be successful, coordination and leadership are needed to ensure this work is completed safely and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain leadership and coordination experience.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Sr. Operations Turnaround Coordinator and Project Integration Leader to:

  • Coordinate team efforts and reach operations readiness milestones
    • Shutdown and clearing plans
    • Isolation Plans
    • Execution Plans
    • RTO Plans
    • Restart Plans
  • Develop operations permitting strategy and flow
  • Work with IT/OT and TES MES to ensure effective implementation of digital technologies as it applies to operations
  • Define work inventory and scope jointly with maintenance turnaround coordinator
  • Validate jobs, develop detailed scope and generate work orders (lead PMO entry).
  • Assign operations resources to zones for detailed planning and scheduling
  • Complete detailed system preparation and individual job packages
  • Coordinate site integration plans
  • Integrate projects into the greater turnaround effort
  • Support procedure, isolation strategy, and job package development
  • Communicate activities and progress to organization and leadership
  • Train organization in work processes and systems
  • Lead operations shift change meetings to coordinate resources and activities
  • Attend daily turnaround steering team and project controls meetings
  • Work shift opposite of the Sr. Operations Turnaround Coordinator during the turnaround execution period

Job Information and Working Condition:

  • Secondary approver authorization will be required to be obtained prior to turnaround execution.
  • Extended travel to other Ethylene facilities during a major turnaround is required as part of training requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing role(s) is required.
  • Work during off-hours and weekends (when applicable -especially during turnaround execution) is required.
  • Essential functions of this position may require, among other things, that the employee use particular types of equipment — such as on-site safety equipment that has specific weight limitations whereby the individual’s own weight, plus the weight of tools and other items and materials, must not exceed a certain threshold. (For example, some types of safety equipment may be rated for a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds total.)   • Role may require up to 20% travel. Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world-wide.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Previous experience in ethylene production facility is preferred.
  • Previous turnaround experience is preferred.
