Morgan Creek Capital Management, located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our team of professionals. This position is responsible for all aspects of finance and accounting for the firm, which includes financial accounting and the close, forecasts and budgets, cash management and payroll. The Finance Manager reports to the COO & CFO, Management Company (“COO”), and manages a team of two Finance professionals.

This position is intended to be based out of Morgan Creek’s Chapel Hill office but has the ability to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities

Manages all aspects of the accounting and reporting processes for Morgan Creeks entities, including analyzing accounts and preparing or reviewing journal entries. This includes the quarterly consolidated close and monthly closes for Morgan Creek’s China entity, working with external local accounting firm, and its broker/dealer.
Prepares or reviews quarterly commission and other compensation calculations and profits statements for registered representatives and senior personnel.
Maintains quarterly P&L forecasts and monthly cash forecasts
Monitors cash balances and line of credit, in conjunction with the Treasury Director and COO
Monitors broker/dealer statutory capital requirement
Oversees the audit for Morgan Creek’s China affiliate and broker/dealer
Maintains an understanding of US GAAP
Manages all aspects of the firm’s annual non-payroll budget. Prepares quarterly budget-to-actual reports for budgeters and monitors variances. Prepares annual budget
Responsible for payroll
Develops ad hoc analyses, projections and financial models
Special projects as required

Qualifications and Experience

At least seven years of experience in financial accounting is required, including two years as a finance / accounting manager
Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel, a keen attention to detail and a focus on efficiency
Strong communication skills, including in email
Self-starter and self-motivated person who excels in a fast-paced professional environment
Works with a sense of urgency and takes ownership of the core responsibilities of this position
A successful candidate will enjoy learning and being challenged.
Strong computer skills, particularly Excel and accounting software systems, ideally including Quickbooks
Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is required, with candidate having strong accounting experience.
